Are We Nearing The End Times - Part 4 - Unloving, Irreconcilable, and Malicious Gossips
So far we have seen eight of twenty characteristics of men that have become prevalent at this time: You can review Part 1 discussing Men will be Lovers of Self and Men will be Lovers of Money (see here), Part 2 discussing Boasting, Arrogance, and Reviling (see here), and Part 3 discussing Disobedience to Parents, Ungrateful, and Unholy (see here). Back to our passages:
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NASB)
[1] But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. [2] For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, [4] treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, [5] holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
Romans 1:28-32 (NASB)
[28] And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, [29] being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, [30] slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, [31] without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; [32] and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.
Men will be unloving - If you describe a person as unloving, you believe that they do not love, or show love to, the people they ought to love. {Collins Dictionary} No where is this better illustrated than the left's preoccupation with abortion. People who ought to know better should realize that an unborn child is helpless and needs to be protected prior to birth. But when you start preaching about how it would be an unloving choice to bring a child into the world whom is not wanted, you yourself are guilty of the very thing that you describe. You talk about choice but you have murder on your heart. You refuse to acknowledge that God doesn't make mistakes in his creation, but people make mistakes, and should own up and take responsibility for your own decision. To further push this idea and profit off of it is absolutely despicable.
How does the scripture describe God and His love? First of all, to be unloving is a mark of someone who does not know God.
1 John 4:7-11 (NASB)
[7] Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. [8] The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. [9] By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. [10] In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [11] Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
What does God tell us to do? Not only are we to be loving towards others, but we are to expose the deeds of darkness and bring it into the light. To not expose darkness is in effect being unloving towards others. Others need to hear the truth and accept the way of God.
Ephesians 5:6-13 (NASB)
[6] Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. [7] Therefore do not be partakers with them; [8] for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [9] (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth ), [10] trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. [11] Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; [12] for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. [13] But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.
Instead, the unloving push away things of God and push further into darkness as they do so. These are deeds of the flesh and not the spirit. Notice all of the things that a person who does not know God commits.
Galatians 5:19-21 (NASB)
Men will be irreconcilable - the dictionary definition of irreconcilable is (of ideas, facts, or statements) representing findings or points of view that are so different from each other that they cannot be made compatible. Probably the most telling example of this is the Left's insistence that they are always right and cannot be challenged on any of their beliefs. It's almost as if they don't believe that there is any other mindset except theirs. In other words, their opinion and the opinion of anyone who does not agree with their stance is irreconcilable. There are a couple of examples on what this leads to in scripture. For instance, thinking that godliness is a means of gain, i.e., getting lots of money. Yes we have the charlatans that preach a wealth gospel, but that is at odds with scripture.
1 Timothy 6:3-6 (NASB)
[3] If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, [4] he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, [5] and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. [6] But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.
2 Peter 2:17-19 (NASB)
[17] These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the [a]black darkness has been reserved. [18] For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, [19] promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.

[19] Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, [20] idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, [21] envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
