Decided to Get Rid of the House and Move into a Retirement Community
So my wife and I recently put a hold on an apartment at a local retirement community. We are so fortunate to be able to sell our house and use the money as the entrance deposit on the apartment. We still have time to back out but both of us have discussed this and we feel that it will put us in a better place because they already have a facility there for managed care should we need it. Meanwhile, we have a lot of people our own age in the community that we can make friends with. This doesn't mean that we will not be doing things around the area that we have done in the past or not deal with relatives that live in the area, it just means that the logistics of getting to things will change. I still plan on walking the malls with my friends as before, but we will be a couple of miles away from where we currently live, so there is the matter of driving or meeting friends and family where ever we need to be. We will be in a gated community which will give us a little more peace of mind when we go out on trips since the area is well guarded.
There are always butterflies about making such a decision in your life. This is no different. More information as it happens.
