Taking a Tip From Psalm One
Over the past few days I have been taking a tip from the Psalm One chapter. Last time I posted I indicated that Psalm One talks about more than once a day meditation on the Word. I was asked to consider teaching on Easter Sunday and it gives me the perfect chance to test out a theory of mine. I am going to concentrate on the Word at least three times a day for a couple of weeks to see if it makes a difference in my Focus, i.e. not forgetting about the Lord for an extended period of time. The pertinent part of Psalm 1 is as follows:
[Psalm 1:1-3] "1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel
of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of
scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law
he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree {firmly} planted by
streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf
does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers."
Praying in the morning before I get up to go to the gym, followed by contemplating the Easter Lesson while I drive to work, followed by taking down thoughts during lunch, followed by more contemplation of the Easter Lesson while I drive home from work, and a little bit of reading on Proverbs before bedtime. I am very prone to not doing well at keeping up a schedule of things like this but in this case I am going to try harder.
In our verse, the subject is meditating on the word day and night with the result of stability (tree), healthy (water to the tree), yielding fruit, not falling apart (leaf doesn't wither), and prospering in whatever he does. Kind of a list of things that are very attractive at this time in my life. I will let you know how it goes.
