The Source of Wisdom

In the book of James it says that if you lack wisdom to ask of God. That would pretty much do away with our concept of wisdom coming with age. In fact Proverbs tells us:

Proverbs 2:6-7 (NASB)
[6] For the LORD gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
[7] He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

Since we are on the topic of Holiness, it would do us well to examine this passage a little more closely. Our word for upright here is yashar which means upright, right, righteous, just. The idea is to be right in the eyes of God. This is very close to what we are looking for in our search for holiness. When scripture talked of the Christ, it says that the Spirit of Wisdom will rest on Him:

Isaiah 11:2 (NASB)
[2] The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

Paul told the Corinthians that Jesus is both the power of God and the wisdom of God:

1 Corinthians 1:24 (NASB)
[24] but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

And in Colossians, Paul told them that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him:

Colossians 2:3 (NASB)
[3] in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

So it sounds an awful lot like we have found the source from which we can find wisdom, Jesus. We ask in His name for our daily bread and provisions for the day. Why cannot we ask for a daily provision of wisdom to get us through as well?
