What Unexpected Pleasures Await Us
I got to thinking the other day about how the Lord blesses us even when we don't ask for a blessing. It is safe to say that He loves us as His children, if indeed we are His children. He knows His own:
John 10:28-29 (NASB)
[28] and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.[29] “*My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
Not only does the Lord know His own, but He freely gives to us all things. This is because God did not hold back in the giving of His Son.
Romans 8:32 (NASB)
[32] He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Strangely though, the giving is not one sided. The scriptures indicate that the Lord's giving to us is so that we in turn can give to others. His love is strong and deeper that anything we can imagine. Nothing that happens is able to separate us from His love. Even though we might go through a troubling time, the Lord is always there guiding us to victory - all we have to do is trust in His judgment.
Romans 8:35-37 (NASB)
[35] Who will separate us from the love of *Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [36] Just as it is written,
“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”
[37] But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
I think of all the times that the Lord has richly blessed me in my time of need and even when my mind was not on any blessing. I really am humbled by His loving mercy.
